Everyone seems to be talking about the latest detox and after the excess of the holidays our bodies can start to feel overloaded and sluggish.
Even without the extra eating and drinking at Christmas our modern lifestyle loads our bodies with toxins from numerous sources – pollution, cigarette smoke, pesticides, food additives, alcohol and caffeine.
As these toxins build up in our system we are faced with unwanted health problems including weight gain, cellulite, headaches, dull skin, bloating, fatigue, lowered immunity, aches and pains and a general lack of well being.
Cleansing can be a powerful therapeutic tool which can transform a person’s health. However it’s important to remember at this time of year the body is already under strain from the lack of sunlight, the cold and working hard to keep healthy and strong.
Any detox programme you embark upon also needs to consider your constitution. For example, if you struggle with the cold and damp a juice fast may not be the best thing for you this time of year and you may be better waiting until the spring.
